Texas Hold'em Poker is the
most popular type of poker
game. In fact, there are no
offline or online casinos
that do not offer Texas
Holdem poker. Although there
are no clear accounts about
the origin of Texas Holdem
Poker, the only thing known
about this game of poker is
that it originated in
Robstown, Texas in the early
19th century. It was
originally known as Hold'em
and not the Texas Hold'em
Poker we know today. Also,
it has been considered a
man's thinking game because
of the strategies involved
in playing Texas Hold'em
poker.
It was 1967 when Amarillo
Slim, Doyle Brunson and
Crandell Addington
introduced Texas Holdem
poker in Las Vegas. Golden
Nugget Casino was the first
casino to offer Texas Holdem
poker among gamblers. In
fact, it was the only casino
to do so. However, this
casino was poorly received
by many wealthy customers.
Just two years later,
Brunson, Slim and Addington
were invited to play at
another casino known as
Dunes Casino.
Dunes Casino has a diverse
client base as well as an
outstanding atmosphere.
However, most of the players
were new to Texas Holdem
poker and hence the games
resulted in salaries for the
main three players. In 1970,
with Texas Holdem Poker
slowly acquiring, Jack and
Benny Binion acquired rights
to the "Gambling Fraternity
Convention" which was a huge
disappointment and changed
the name to "World Series of
Poker". The venue for the
tournament was Horseshoe
Pinion, owned by Jack and
Penny. In 1971, journalist
Tom Thackeray suggested that
the main event of the
tournament be Texas Hold'em
but this time, it should be
limitless.
In 1978, Doyle Bronson wrote
and published his book Super
System, a strategy guide to
playing Texas Hold'em poker.
This book revolutionized the
way people treat Texas
Hold'em Poker. Considered
the most important book in
the world of Texas Hold'em
poker, the "Super System"
has become the bible that
every Texas Hold'em poker
player refers to when
learning different
strategies around the game.
Another book appeared in
1983, The Biggest Game in
Town. The book is published
by Alvarez, which discusses
the World Series of Poker
(WSOP), as well as the
professional world of poker.
The book basically explains
the world that only
professional poker players
know. The Biggest Game in
Town marked the beginning of
the poker literature, making
Texas Holdem poker
information accessible to
more people.
During the first World
Series in 1972 there were
only 8 players which later
grew to 100 by 1982 and over
200 in 1991. Today, the
World Series of Poker Texas
Hold'em poker is a staple of
the tournament which is
televised in All over the
United States.
In the United Kingdom, Texas
Holdem poker was introduced
in the early 1980s. The game
was introduced by Liam Flood
and Terry Rogers.
Because of the growing
popularity of Texas Holdem
poker, more and more
tournaments are being
created with new faces on
each spin. Because of this
popularity, casino operators
have hacked the internet to
cater to casino lovers who
are unable to travel all the
way to Las Vegas. The first
online casino was launched
already in the 90s.
